Culture Cafe Autumn Exhibiton

Culture Cafe Autumn Exhibition

To co-incide with the 'Behind Closed Doors' season at the Rose Theatre, Kingston, the Culture Cafe Gallery presents the work of two artists, Edward Parkinson and Rachel Pearcy.

Contrasting in style, their work is non-the-less deeply personal in concept.

The human form.

The favourite chair.

Edward Parkinson is a hugely talented painter of the human form.  His fascination with flesh is apparent, giving his work an intensity while portraying intimate moments.  Working in oils, the paint is layered and manipulated to add depth and great energy to the image.

Rachel Pearcy focuses on the simplicity yet drama of a dark mark on light paper.  Using repetition to great effect, this exhibition of her work concentrates on her preoccupation with chairs.  One chair in particular, recreated in line drawing, stitches, wood and electrical tape.

The Autumn Exhibition is curated by FusionARTS.
