Our youth theatre is rapidly gaining a strong reputation. Up to ninety students meet every week in classes of no more than fifteen to learn about acting and theatre.
We offer something very different from musical theatre orientated schools. The programme focuses on acting process and technique. Juniors explore 'story' through games and improvisation. Seniors look at practitioners such as Stanislavski and Brecht through improvisation, text work, vocal skills and acting for screen. The classes are practical and fun, and offer the chance to develop self-confidence and life-skills, as well as making lasting friendships.
We work towards low-key, end-of-term showings and at least one production each year. Since 2010, Rose Youth Theatre has staged nine plays, including Hamlet, The Beggar’s Opera, Two and Corporate Christmas (which was written by Ed Scott, one of RYT’s students).
