Rose Theatre Kingston’s Time to Talk series has seen some of the most respected and admired actors, writers and public figures open up about their lives and work in the intimate setting of our main auditorium.
Actor, director and writer, Michael Pennington talks to Stephen Unwin about his remarkable career in classical theatre, his recent performances in Ibsen, as well as his new book on Shakespeare.
A British director and actor, Michael has been in a broad range of works such as Hamlet (RSC), Oedipus the King, The Entertainer, and Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde. As joint artistic director of the English Shakespeare Company, he starred in the company's inaugural productions of The Henrys and, in 1987, the seven-play history cycle of The Wars of the Roses, which toured worldwide.
In 2011, Michael portrayed former Labour Party leader Michael Foot, opposite Meryl Streep, in The Iron Lady.
