25 May - 29 May
By Geoffrey Chaucer
Adapted by Mike Poulton
Directed by Conrad Nelson
Presented by Northern Broadsides
The Tabard Inn, London, sometime in the fourteenth century. A Knight, Cook, Miller, Squire and more - gather for their pilgrimage to Canterbury Cathedral. On the way, they regale each other with colourful tales, and thus unfolds one of the greatest collections of stories ever told.
Come and experience theatrical riches it's impossible to sum up: high romance and hidden depths, chivalry, villainy and boisterous antics, mirth and merriment, poetry and puppetry, with a good dose of song and dance thrown in for good measure.
Mike Poulton's deliciously witty and entertaining adaptation was first toured by the RSC to rapturous reviews and public acclaim and has now re-worked for the exuberant Northern Broadsides who brought Lenny Henry as Othello to the Rose last year.
