Ian Hallard


Ian Hallard has appeared on a number of British TV favourites from The Crown to Doctor Who to Agatha Cristie's Poirot. 

He's graced the West End stage multiple times over is illustrious career including Scenes from an Execution at the National, The Vote at the Donmar Warehouse and The Boys in the Band at the Vaudeville Theatre which earned him a WhatsOnStage nomination for Best Actor in a play. 

Ian keeps it in the family in The Taste of the Town by playing Horace Walpole, the son of first Prime Minister Robert Walpole from The Art of Success. But Horace refused to live in the shadow of his father, read on to find out more...

  • Horace Walpole was a hugely prestigious figure in 18th Century society as a critic of art, literature and architecture.
  • He's the founder of Strawberry Hill House in nearby Twickenham, it's gothic design inspired by a European Tour he took in 1739-41. His influence pioneered a new wave of gothic design. 
  • Walpole was a writer of gothic novel The Castle of Otranto but he is better known
