Young People

Since 2008, Rose Youth Theatre has earned itself a strong reputation. Students meet every week to learn about acting and theatre.

Hansel & Gretel Audition Details

Following on from the huge success of last year’s festive hit Alice in Winterland, the Rose invites young people aged 10-19 to apply to join the Rose Youth Theatre and audition to perform in the Rose Christmas show Hansel & Gretel

The young cast will receive training from a professional creative team to learn high level acting skills before performing in alternate shows across the run.

Auditions will take place between May and June whilst training begins in September. For more information please click on the Frequently Asked Questions below. If you can’t find the answer to your question there, please email Director of Learning and Participation Ciaran McConville at

Rose Youth Theatre Under 11s

For ages 5-11. Cost: £110 per term.

Our programme for younger children is great fun and always enjoys fabulous feedback from students and parents alike. We explore self-confidence, vocal, literacy and team skills. We work closely with local schools and connect our work to the curriculum to give our youngest students the best advantage.

Meeting week in small classes, students work in various spaces across the Rose and receive a lot of close tuition to develop their creative abilities. There are performance opportunities, and students regularly show work to friends and family.

Rose Young Company

For ages 11-18. Cost: £160 per term. Audition required.

This is our performance-based course. It demands huge commitment and full attendance, but the rewards are worth it. Our junior students (11-14) learn about theatre through text, technique and improvisation, whilst our seniors (14-18) work in ensembles on emotional access and maturity, exploring art and performance in an entirely new and exciting way.

Rose Young Company students rehearse hard and perform to the public each term, working on classics, adaptations, new writing and screen plays. Within small ensembles, our actors learn an extraordinary level of discipline to compliment professional process and technique.

As Rose Young Company’s focus is heavily on performance, attendance is mandatory on a term-by-term basis, this is as much a commitment for parents and siblings as it is for students!

The Rose Youth Theatre Academy (RYTA)

For ages 11-18. Cost £110 per term.

Our new course is designed to introduce students to a whole range of acting skills and professional training techniques. We’ve taken the best elements of our Rose Acting Workshops and developed these to offer a new varied and structured syllabus, designed to develop skills, improve confidence and compliment studies at school.  The classes are great fun, well structured, and require discipline, attendance and punctuality.
This is an open-access course, organised by school year, and there’s no audition, but we do ask that you commit to attending classes regularly – you’ll only get the most from the course if you come along.  At the end of every term you’ll have to chance to receive a certificate and there will also be a performance for invited friends and family.
As well as the Rose and local Kingston venues, we’ll also be running classes for Year 12 and 13s at Nescot College, Epsom (with a discount for Nescot students).
