Matthew Scott trained at the Guildhall School and City University London followed by studies at the Berlin Hochshule fur Musik and in New York, where he worked as Music Assistant to Lotte Lenya. He has written music for many plays including premieres by Alan Bennett, Richard Bean, John Mortimer, Harold Pinter, David Edgar, Mark Ravenhill, Howard Barker and Julian Mitchell. He was a member of cult systems band The Lost Jockey, and has produced among others Trans Global Underground, Antony and the Johnstons and Martha Wainwright. His orchestral version of Sergeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band was premiered by the London Sinfonietta at the Milan festival in 2007 sung by Jarvis Cocker, Marianne Faithfull and others. In 2014 he composed the music for the Chichester Festival Theatre’s production of Taken At Midnight that transferred to the Theatre Royal Haymarket. He composed the incidental music for Waste by Granville Barker, which played on the Lyttleton Stage at The National Theatre until Jan 2016. He most recently composed the music for the Theatre Royal Bath's revival of Hobson's Choice and the Wyndam's production of The Truth.
