Most recently he starred in Anthony and Cleopatra, The Knight of the Burning Pestle (Shakespeares Globe); Les Miserables (West End); This House (National Theatre/West End) and King Lear (Chichester Festival Theatre).

Phil recorded and toured with Blur, providing a vocal for their huge hit Park Life. He has also sung with The Stranglers and The Who.
In 2011 Phil released his autobiography Class Actor.
