'Clever and inventive' British Theatre Guide

'Wonderfully breathtaking and honest' The New Current

Alf is a trawler fisherman at the top of his game. But times are changing and so is the industry. Will Alf adapt in order to survive? Follow a fish’s journey from sea to plate, watch a seagull’s ridiculous attempt to find food and witness a father and son reunite.

Award-winning Smoking Apples use innovative puppetry, a striking set and an original score to transport you out to sea, under the ocean and onto the deck of the Catcher’s Fortune.

Smoking Apples produce high quality theatre that, more often than not, works with difficult, hard-to-digest subject matter. Using puppetry and visual theatre, the company create innovative shows, making their subjects enjoyable and accessible for audiences. They combine puppets, live actors and an identifiable and unique style of movement. Smoking Apples were part of the Creative Talent programme from 2010 – 2014 and have since gone on to tour their work nationally and internationally.
