Shelley Maxwell

Movement Director

Shelley Maxwell is a Movement Director, choreographer and performing artist.

She holds a MA in choreography from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and has enjoyed a career both in the United Kingdom and the Caribbean. Shelley appeared onstage as a performer in shows such as Disneys’ The Lion King, London and the National Theatre's Fela! As a contemporary dancer she has toured globally with multiple London based and International Dance Companies. She served as Assistant Movement Director for RSC's most recent production of Hamlet and formed part of the Dance Research and Development Team for Julian Fellowes' current production of The Wind In the Willows.

She was Movement Consultant for the Young Vic's production of Cuttin It, which won the best new play UK Theatre Award 2016 and, most recently this year’s production of Why Its Kicking Off Everywhere, also at the Young Vic. At the start of 2017 she worked with Simon Goodwin on Twelfth Night for the National Theatre as Movement Director at the Olivier. She currently works as an animateur for the Rambert Dance Company. During Summer 2017 Shelley directed a site specific outdoor production of Seventeen for The Lyric, Hammersmith. Shelley is thrilled to be working alongside Simon Goodwin once more, on this production of Rules For Living.
