Spencer trained with the National Youth Music Theatre and at The University of Kent, Canterbury and is an award-winning actor and director (Michael Macliammoir Award for Lord Arthur’s Bed - Dublin International Gay Theatre Festival).
Directing credits include Romeo and Juliet (New Wimbledon Studio); Too Far from the Light (The Lion and Unicorn); Dan and Joel (Arcola Theatre); Hummingbirds and Kidnapped (Waterloo East); Iron (The Orange Tree Theatre); The Orange (Landor Theatre); Market Boy (Lost Theatre).
Most recently he has worked as Associate Director on Paul Miller's critically acclaimed production of Terence Rattigan's French Without Tears (Orange Tree Theatre and Tour) and to Rebecca Gatward on Sandi Toksvig's new play Silver Lining, (Rose Theatre Kingston and Tour) both produced by English Touring Theatre. Spencer is currently Associate Director on the national tour of Rules for Living by Sam Holcroft, directed by Simon Godwin, produced by Royal and Derngate, Rose Theatre Kingston and English Touring Theatre. Spencer has worked extensively with children and young adults.
As Associate Director for Petersfield Youth Theatre where productions included; Bugsy Malone, Peter Pan and The Jungle Book. As Youth Theatre Director for The Orange Tree Theatre, productions include; Animal Farm, Grimm’s Fairy Tales, The Iron Man, The Bees Knees and Find Me.
Other clients include; Young Actors Company Wimbledon, The Unicorn Theatre, Mencap, Crying Out Loud, and Shed@thePark Inclusive Theatre Company. Spencer was Course Convenor/Performance Director for Guangdong Performing Arts College, China and the Applied Theatre BA, St Mary’s University.
