The Poetry of Painting: Exhibition

  • Sat 11 Feb - Sat 25 Feb
  • Supported by Royal Marsden Cancer Charity

An Exhibition at the Rose Theatre.

The Poetry of Painting is an exhibition of artworks that explores the poetry of T.S.Eliot.  Four large paintings relate to Eliot’s greatest poetic work:  the Four Quartets.  Three other large paintings form a triptych which visualises themes from Eliot’s Selected Poems.

T.S. Eliot was a philosopher as much as he was a poet.  His poetry engages with our most fundamental relationships with life, death, God, nature and the universe.

Other works, including landscapes and a collection of fine art drawings, are included in the exhibition.

When a visual artist makes pictures in response to another creative form such as poetry, the result is not simply an illustration.  It is a new kind of conversation between the artists and the media within which they work.  Hopefully new insights, new thoughts and new creativity emerges.

The Poetry of Painting is an exhibition which supports the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
